Toe Nail Trims
Is your dog clicking around the house, or is your cat scratching you? We are here to help. We offer nail trims, making sure to cut the nails as short as possible without damaging the quick (the blood supply to the nail). Regular nail trims improve nail health. They also allow us to check the nails and paws for any potential problems.
We also offer nail trimming with the quiet Pedi-Paw nail dremel. This process involves painlessly smoothing and rounding the nail. Ask us today if the Pedi-Paw treatment is right for your pet.
Ear Cleaning
Ear cleaning is a simple procedure where we use a pet-approved ear cleaning solution and paper towel to clean your pet’s ears. Our staff is highly trained in the anatomy of your pet’s ear to appropriately and safely clean without damaging the ear canal or ear drum.
Sanitary Clips (Face, Feet, and Rear)
Does your pet frequently get food or feces stuck in their fur? We offer sanitary clips of the face, feet, and rear. This is the pain-free clipping of the fur around the face or rear, shortening the fur to keep the areas clean and free of debris.
Clipping your pet’s feet helps them gain more traction on slippery surfaces such as wood floors and reduces the collection of mud or dirt on their feet.
Ear Hair Plucking
Some dogs have a lot of fur in the ear canal. This fur traps wax and debris, which can cause irritation and ear infections. We can quickly pluck out the fur, helping reduce the chance of infection.
Anal Gland Expression
Anal glands are sacs on the inside of your pet’s rectum. They produce an excretion with a scent that marks their feces. They are normally expressed as your pet passes feces, but they can become clogged and need to be manually expressed on occasion.
When we express your pet’s anal glands, we are also able to feel for any abnormalities or signs of infection. We make sure to clear out the glands and clean up afterward completely, so your pet’s rear is fresh and smell-free.
Tooth Brushing
At Van Crest Animal Hospital & Boarding, we can give your pet’s teeth a good and thorough brushing. We recommend brushing your pet’s teeth regularly to help reduce plaque accumulation and fight against dental disease. We are happy to teach you how to brush your pet’s teeth at home.
